The Jefferson County Department of Economic Development operates under the umbrella of the County Administration Department and Jefferson County Board of Supervisors. Ms. Brenda Buck, County Administrator, provides organizational management and grant writing services for this department. In addition to arranging and coordinating meetings with potential businesses, state agencies, and entrepreneurs, Ms. Buck administers all grants received by this department, and works with all granting agencies to assure that tasks and reporting requirements are completed in a timely manner.
Jefferson County is determined to seize control of its future and reverse the spiral of poverty and joblessness in our community. Mississippi State University, Alcorn State University, University of Southern Mississippi and Copiah-Lincoln Community College have been approached for assistance in engaging in a strategic planning and revitalization process for Jefferson County.
